Find a Way Forward from Addiction
“Support to help you break free from addiction and rebuild your life.”
Perhaps what once felt like fun or a way to cope has slowly become something that brings pain, shame, or isolation. You may promise yourself things will change, only to find yourself back in the same place again. Over time, this cycle can feel exhausting, not just physically, but emotionally, and mentally. You may begin to question yourself, your choices, and whether change is really possible.
Part of you might want a different life, but the idea of getting there can feel extremely overwhelming or even out of reach. You don’t have to face it alone. Recovery coaching is here to support you in taking those first steps towards change, at your pace, in a way that feels manageable and supportive for you.
Does Any of This Resonate?
You may recognise some of these experiences in yourself:
• Promising yourself it will be the last time, but the cycle continues
• Feeling ashamed or frustrated but unsure how to stop
• Hiding your struggles from family or friends
• Using substances to cope with stress, anxiety, loneliness, or painful emotions
• Feeling like you are losing control of something that once felt manageable
• Wanting to change but feeling unsure how
If any of this resonates with you, please know that you are not alone. Many people experience these thoughts and feelings, even if it seems like no one else understands.
How Recovery Coaching Can Help
Recovery coaching offers support, encouragement, and guidance as you begin to move forward with your life. Together, we can gently explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck and begin to understand what is driving them.
From there, we can work on developing healthier coping strategies that feel realistic and sustainable for you. We can begin to build structure and routine into your life, helping you feel more grounded and supported in your recovery. This might include creating small, achievable steps that build confidence over time, rather than expecting everything to change at once.
Coaching is about helping you reconnect with yourself, looking at your values, your strengths, and what truly matters to you; while taking practical steps toward a more stable and manageable life.
Coaching vs Therapy
Recovery coaching focuses on the present and the future. It is practical, supportive, and action-focused, helping you build stability and develop skills for daily living.
Therapy often explores past experiences and deeper emotional wounds. Experts such as Gabor Maté speak about how unresolved trauma can lie beneath addiction. However, when you are in the middle of addiction or early recovery, it can feel difficult to begin exploring those deeper issues.
Coaching helps you first create a sense of stability and develop healthier coping strategies. This can provide a strong foundation, which may prepare you for deeper therapeutic work later, if and when you feel ready to explore it.
Hope in Recovery
When you are living with addiction, life can feel chaotic, overwhelming, and unmanageable. It can feel like you are constantly trying to hold things together while everything inside feels broken. While putting substances down is an important first step, learning to navigate life with emotional stability can feel like a much bigger challenge. Recovery offers the possibility of something different, it offers a life that feels more stable, balanced, and connected.
Recovery does not mean life becomes perfect. It means developing healthy ways to cope with challenges and emotions without relying on substances. Over time, many people begin to rebuild relationships, develop self-respect, and experience a greater sense of calm.
You may begin to notice small changes at first, feeling a little more in control, a little more present, or a little more hopeful. These small steps can grow into meaningful and lasting change. Recovery is not about becoming someone different; it is about reconnecting with who you truly are underneath the addiction.
About Me
I am a recovery coach and qualified therapist with lived experience of addiction and recovery. My own journey has shown me both the pain addiction can bring and the hope that recovery can offer.
I understand how difficult it can be to break free from patterns that feel deeply ingrained, and how important it is to feel supported without judgement.
Through my years in recovery, I have supported many individuals who struggle with addiction to begin rebuilding their lives and finding healthier ways to cope. I am passionate about helping people discover that change is possible and that a different way of living can exist beyond addiction.
Take the First Step
A different life is possible, and sometimes having the right support can help you begin to see the way forward. You don’t have to have everything figured out, and you don’t have to be completely ready to change.
Sometimes the first step is simply reaching out and having a conversation. If you would like to find out more or arrange a coaching session, please get in touch via my contact form. Sessions are available online or in person at my Counselling Studio in Suffolk.
